In polo, a player sits on top of a pony (pony as opposed to horse is traditional, dating from the days when there was a height limit) and, with a long mallet, tries to drive a little wooden ball into a narrow goalmouth with the help of three other players. The four opponents, of course, try to stop this and keep the ball to themselves with the same purpose.

The full match is divided into Six 7-minute "Chukkas" with three minutes given in which to change ponies between chukkas. At the end of the chukka a bell is rung, but the game continues until the ball goes out of play or the 7.5 minute bell is rung to end the chukka.

Dundrum Bowl

The Manager , Ballinteer Road, Dundrum, Co. Dublin

The information for this section was provided by the Dundrum Bowl and the Markdyke Leisure World.

Quasar is a team game where up to 50 people can play at any given time. Participants are divided into equal teams and are each given a shoulder harness which contains an energy pack and attached to that is a phaser handset which produces a spectacular beam of pure laser light. This phaser handset is used to deactivate the opponents force field generator whilst also trying to deactivate the players on the opposing team. The aim of the game is to score as many points as possible by deactivating the other team and destroying their base. At the same time you must defend yourself and your own base against attack.layers move around a multi-dimensional playing area, stalking their opponents, taking over and plotting with their team members when to shoot the base target of the opposing team. A giant scoreboard keeps you updated of the score and each player receives a personalised scoresheet which tells you exactly who shot who. Quasar is the world's most advanced hi-tech indoor laser game and you don't need to be a Rambo to play it. Anyone young or old can play Quasar.
